Inside Talos: Building a Culture Rooted in Faith, Family, and Community

At Talos Engineered Products, our team is the heartbeat of everything we do. While we are committed to engineering excellence, what truly sets Talos apart is the culture behind the work – the people, the purpose, and the values that guide us each day. We sat down with Marie LaLonde, Vice President of People and Culture, to talk about what makes the Talos experience so unique, from building strong internal teams to creating meaningful impact in the community.

A Culture Grounded in Faith and Family

When asked to describe Talos culture in a few words, Marie didn’t hesitate. “We are a family – and a faith-based environment,” she shared. “Our holding company, SOLV Holdings, gives us the freedom to be a spiritually grounded company and supports the vision we have for our people and our community.”

This foundation defines how Talos collaborates, communicates, and shows up for one another. It’s also what makes the company’s approach to teamwork different.

“We strive to work together as one Talos team,” Marie explained. “No matter the department, no matter the project – we support each other because we are better together.”

Building Strong Teams With Purpose

Hiring at Talos goes beyond technical expertise. For Marie and the HR team, people and culture are inseparable.

“We look for team members who align with our core values,” she said. “Our goal is to hire skilled individuals who understand how our culture shows up in our day-to-day workflow.”

To ensure that new hires are set up for success, HR focuses on pairing talent with the right fit – both in role and culture.

Talos employees regularly focus on what collaboration looks like in real time. One example Marie shared was last year’s Christmas Light Celebration at Horton Park.

“We needed all departments to come together to be successful,” she recalled. “Our booth turned out amazing, and the team was so proud of what they accomplished together.”

It’s moments like this that define the Talos spirit – unity, creativity, and shared pride.

Going Above and Beyond for Customers

Talos teams are dedicated to delivering not only quality products, but exceptional service. Sometimes this means making real sacrifices.

“Our customers are our number one focus,” Marie emphasized. “There are times when we have to make tough decisions to work long hours or overtime to meet customer demands, and our team always steps up.”

Investing in Our People

To support growth and development, HR provides ongoing pathways for advancement. “We prioritize internal job postings and offer developmental programs to help our team members grow into new challenges,” Marie noted.

Recognition is also another cornerstone of Talos’ people-first culture. “It’s imperative that teams feel appreciated,” she said. “Recognition reinforces the impact their making and motivates continued success.”

Making A Difference in the Community

Talos’ commitment to service extends far beyond the workplace walls. Employees regularly participate in quarterly outreach initiatives, community events, and the company’s “Convey Hope” project. “We invite our entire team to be involved in giving back,” Marie shared. “It’s rewarding for employees to see how they are making a difference in the lives of people in need.”

One standout partnership is the company’s ongoing support of the Men of Valor program. “That partnership continues to make a profound impact in not only our community, but also our culture,” Marie said.

These experiences not only help the community – they strengthen the bonds among Talos employees. “Volunteering strengthens the workplace culture because it brings people together for something bigger than themselves,” Marie added.

Looking Ahead: Growing Teams, Growing Impact

As Talos continues expanding its presence in Marshall County and beyond, there’s plenty to be excited about. “We’re becoming more involved with the Chamber, which opens new doors for events, networking, and community engagement,” Marie said.

HR also plans to take a strategic approach to future hiring and organizational structure. “We’ll be reviewing departmental needs and continuing to build teams that thrive inside and outside of work,” she explained.

With a strong foundation rooted in faith, family, and service, Talos’ culture will continue to drive meaningful impact – for employees, customers, and communities they call home.
