TALOS Rolls Out New Line of Motor Driven Roller (MDR) Conveyors
JUNE 17, 2024 (Lewisburg, TN) – TALOS Engineered Products (www.talosep.com) announces the addition of a new line of motor driven roller (MDR) conveyor with numerous standard options. These include the choice among different standard controls packages, a range of standard dimensions, and a selection of directional components.
While MDR conveyor technology is not new to the material handling and conveyance marketspace, it is a new product for TALOS, explained Tony Santora, Sales Manager.
“TALOS is widely known among system integrators and end users for our parcel conveyors and engineered chutes,” he said. “We added MDR to our product portfolio in response to numerous requests from our existing customer base. These operations want to work with a one-stop supplier to engineer and support solutions across all of their item transport workflows.”
With continued growth in e-commerce, distribution facilities and parcel handling operators increasingly need the ability to singulate, accumulate, and convey individual totes, cartons, and other single items through their facilities, Santora added.
“We see MDR as a complement to our current product line up,” he said. “In addition to better meeting our customers’ needs, the MDR line opens up new sales opportunities for TALOS. It’s a win-win.”
Multiple Standard Configuration Options Set TALOS’ MDR Conveyor Apart
To maximize versatility in the new MDR conveyor line, TALOS’ engineering team identified several key features that help ensure end users get exactly what they need. As a result, TALOS offers a large selection of standard options. These include:
- Motors and Controls Packages: A choice among different standard motors and controls systems allows an operation to easily integrate TALOS’ MDR conveyor with existing integrations. They include motor and control packages from Pulse Roller, Itoh Denki, and Automation Controls Group (ACG).
- Wiring and Communications Choices: TALOS’ MDR conveyors support multiple wiring and communications configurations. They include turn-key conveyor installs through basic modules for onsite integration.
- Roller Customization Choices: Measuring 1.9 inches in diameter, roller spacing can be either 2 or 3 inches apart on center. Further, roller options include an uncovered standard version, individually sleeved rollers with urethane covers, or integrated into a series of elastic urethane belts.
- Variable Speeds: TALOS’ MDR conveyors run at standard speeds ranging from 22 to 288 feet per minute. That said, TALOS’ engineers will work with customers on every application.
- Multiple Sizes and Dimensions: The MDR conveyors come in a range of standard, between frame (BF) widths from 18 to 48 inches. Standard straight-line segment lengths extend from 18 to 144 inches. Zone configurations come in standard lengths from 18 to 36 inches.
- Several Directional Components: Customization options for the new MDR conveyors include straights, curves, merges, spurs, transfers, and lift gates to match an operation’s carton flow movement. Straight-line conveyor segment configuration options include incline/declines, herringbone, and skew.
- Different Sideguard Choices: MDR conveyors with high roller configurations can be outfitted with either 2-inch or 6-inch bolt-on sideguards as standard. Low roller configurations feature integrated side Additionally, TALOS provides Lexan covers as an option.
- Various Support Options: TALOS’ MDR conveyor includes a choice fixed or portable support frames. The flexible, adjustable height supports bolt to the floor. A mobile version with fold down support legs and casters enables modular functionality. The mobile MDR version relocates easily, allowing an operation to extend its existing conveyor lines during peak periods.
Integrity, Creativity, and Quality Are Engineered into Every TALOS Solution
Santora emphasized that TALOS’ highly experienced engineering team backs every conveyor component it creates, including the new MDR line.
“We are well-known in the material handling industry for our ability to solve unique challenges with high-quality products,” he continued. “We strive to create cost-effective solutions that are both flexible and scalable, enabling our customers to maximize their productivity.”
Customer service is also a key component of any TALOS project. The company strives to build strong relationships with its customers before, during, and after a project.
“We work closely with our customers during the design and engineering phase all the way through delivery,” added Santora. “For example, as we load finished products onto trailers for shipments and delivery, we take a series of photographs during truck loading. Then we share the images with our customer so they can more easily audit and track their incoming shipments.”
Finally, TALOS offers installation services for all of its products. Customers who choose to manage the installation process themselves receive extensive product documentation, along with comprehensive assembly, installation, and commissioning instructions. Aftermarket support is also available.
